Who are you?
We are a group of youth, community members, and educators in South San Francisco, CA.
What are you guys trying to do right now?
Our efforts began with demanding SSF City Council to reallocate funding from the police and place those funds in programs that more effectively address mental health, substance abuse, education, housing, jobs, and childcare. Our communities are being over-policed and Black and Brown people are being killed, brutalized, and incarcerated on a regular basis.
Currently, we are working to raise awareness about systemic racial inequalities in SSF and the SSFUSD. We are particularly concerned about the presence of police in schools, the excessive use of force by SSFPD officers, the lack of affordable housing, and the need for mental health resources in the city of South San Francisco.
